James River Bus Lines Receives National Driver Award

Mr. Dwight Lacey, a long time motorcoach operator for James River Bus Lines has been named the 2008 Safety Leader of the Year by the United Motorcoach Association. Mr. Lacey takes care of the company’s Amtrak contract service between Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Newport News. “Our ability to retain Amtrak’s business is a direct result of Dwight’s commitment to safety and customer service excellence”, said Stephen Story, President of James River Bus Lines. The award will be presented at the UMA Expo on January 23, 2009 in Orlando, Florida. The United Motorcoach Association (“UMA”) is North America’s largest association of professional bus and motorcoach companies. Founded in 1971, UMA’s membership now includes over 875 motorcoach companies. Below is a description of the award: “A demonstrated commitment to safety is the leading criteria for this honor”, says Carmen Daecher, who created the award. According to the UMA other criteria for the award includes involvement in the industry for at least five years; active in industry initiatives and organizations, and demonstrated achievements for his or her company and/or the industry.
